Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.
Have you ever been out late at night? Maybe it was after a long basketball game or watching the premier of Avengers End Game at the theater. You start heading home, and there on the horizon you see it – the comforting glow of a McDonalds sign beckoning you to come and eat. When you see those giant signs light up the night sky, it's impossible to not notice (and impossible to not start craving french fries).
Just like those illuminated fast food signs, you can’t miss the influence of someone whose life clearly reflects the light of Jesus. When others want to argue, choose to agree to disagree. When others complain, choose to find the silver lining. When others are selfish or hurtful, choose to be kind and helpful. Be the light that keeps shining when all other lights go out.
Jesus, fill me with your light. Let me be a place of hope and peace and love to all who see me – from my closest friends to the strangers I meet on the street.
