I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.
You know what’s cool about Timothy? His heart. He had a kind heart and genuinely cared about others. When he saw another person, he treated them as if they were Jesus themselves. He was the kind of person who would go out of his way to make sure people had someone to listen to, a place to sleep, and enough to eat. He didn’t do this for praise or recognition. He did it simply because he cared and he knew it’s what Jesus would have done.
People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. If you want to share the good news of Jesus with others (which you should), then start by looking at your own heart. Ask God to grow inside of you a sincere love and kindness for others. Then put that love into action by taking care of others and all of their needs (spiritual and physical).
Jesus, help me to see others through your eyes and to have the strength and courage to take care of others no matter the cost.
